LOCAL ACTION GROUP AWAY DAYS

To enhance the LAG’s involvement with, and knowledge of, the variety of projects that are part-financed by the Herefordshire Rivers LEADER+ Programme, the team have organised Away Days for LAG Members.

To find out more details of the Local Action Group, please follow this link their page: About the Local Action Group.

The first took place on 10th November 2004, where first they visited the Houghton Project, and then the Frome Valley Archaeology, Landscape Change and Conservation project.  After a warming lunch, the final appointment was with the River Landscapes Since the Ice Age project, where they undertook a walk along the confluence of the rivers Lugg and Wye.

The most recent Away Day was held on 20th July 2005.  This time, LAG Members visited four projects.  To begin the day, there was a trip to visit the Young People’s Coracle project at the BODS Outdoor Pursuits centre.  This was followed by a walk up Capler Camp, near Fownhope, to stand in the bowl of the former hill fort, looking down across the Wye Valley, with the leaders of the Landscape Origins of the Wye Valley project.  The soon-to-start New Woolhope Dome project followed lunch, and the walled garden of the Learning from our Heritage project was the last visit of the day.
